Access Options Prioritization
The Access Options feature enables the prioritization of access methods when multiple resources are available for a single item allowing for both simple and fine-grained prioritization of resources, ensuring that users are directed to the preferred source for accessing the content based on your settings.
Example:
If an article is available through both a publisher and a vendor, as activated in the TDNet Discover holdings, the prioritization set in Access Options will determine which source is used to link to the article.
When Prioritization is applied
- Resolver Workflow:
- When 'Go to best match link' is selected in Resolver -> Workflow, the resolver will redirect to the highest priority source defined in Access Options.

- Link Resolver and Record Details Pages:
- When multiple sources are available, the 'Read the full text' button will use the highest priority source specified in Access Options.
- When multiple sources are available, the 'Read the full text' button will use the highest priority source specified in Access Options.
Types of Prioritization
Simple Categorization:
- Resources are prioritized by broad categories:
- Publisher
- Vendor
- Open Access
- Pay Per View
- Current Subscription
- Library Catalog
Fine-Grained Categorization:
- Resources are prioritized by specific collections within the activated holdings and publisher-direct titles.
Adjusting Prioritization
- To adjust prioritization, simply drag each entry to the desired position in the list.
Fine-Grained View Options
- Excluding Collections: You can exclude selected collections, which suppresses full-text links from appearing for articles from journals in these collections.
- Group Vendors: This option consolidates links from multiple collections into a single link when a journal is provided by the same vendor through multiple collections.
Application to Library eResources List
The Access Options prioritization also applies to the Library eResources list.
When multiple resources are available for an item, the prioritization settings will determine the primary source for linking.
Example:
- If a journal is available through both the publisher and a vendor, and the prioritization favors the publisher, the link to the journal will direct users to the publisher's website.
